BItchinG abt BoSs Again

The below take place after in office . Diva’s initial application for leave is on 20- 1 Jan 08. All is well until today when she came back from her sick leave. While clocking in the MC , Diva applied for her leave as well. Then this happens…  

Boss[2:36 PM]:okay with the leave arrangement?

Diva 40 [2:37 PM]:no

Diva 40 [2:37 PM]:but i dun have a choice rite

Boss[2:37 PM]:the 3 days day off is one day remaining from Optus and another 2 days for the weekend for your trip to Msia?

Diva 40 [2:38 PM]:ya

Boss[2:38 PM]:time off is always subject to workload, u understand that right?

Diva 40 [2:39 PM]:so doesn’t tat mean i can change it with my AL then?

Boss[2:39 PM]:even if u take AL, its subject to approval right?

Diva 40 [2:39 PM]:fine, then nothing to say

Boss[2:39 PM]:Although try as I must I always try to work based on your timing

Boss[2:40 PM]:I am just highlighting a possibility that I may not have a choice

Boss[2:41 PM]:its like 2 weeks off and normally for year end I would not expect too heavy a workload, but now that queen kala wants to do a submission for XXX

Boss[2:41 PM]:that’s why I am a little concern

Boss[2:41 PM]:so, while I try to be mindful of what you guys want and your plans, I just want to highlight to you in case there is any emergency

Boss[2:42 PM]:so far, when U take time off and mc, etc., I have been covering for you and I have not yet recalled you back…

Boss[2:42 PM]:but in case there are other things that come up, then my hands will be tied…

Diva 40 [2:44 PM]:time off is like u mention depending on work load rite. and MC is certify by Doc iam not well to work rite. if u want to comment tat, well boss that’s nothing i can say

Boss[2:45 PM]:my dear, like I say, I have not recalled you back yet, have I?

Diva 40 [2:45 PM]:2 days mc is due to gastric then to be honest i only start getting it since the Globe & Msia

Boss[2:45 PM]:even for P1 last week, when they asked for you on friday, I have to fan them off

Boss[2:46 PM]:I may impose on myself to come back though I am sick but try as I must, I dun expect you guys to do the same

Boss[2:47 PM]:and maybe I am expecting too much for u to understand my position.  On one end, I do the best I can to make sure you guys get the rest and recognition that you deserve

Boss[2:47 PM]:on the other hand, I have to answer to my boss

Boss[2:48 PM]:so, while I can fan off the people when you are on mc to say that she cant come back, I cant fan off the people if it is time-off

Diva 40 [2:48 PM]:so doesn’t take means i only have to work 8 hrs a day

Boss[2:49 PM]:even if I say that you are on leave, people may still say that knowing that there is a bid on hand, and that you have been the one working on the bid, why have I approved the leave?

Boss[2:49 PM]:so, when I approve the leave knowing that something has happened, I will need to have a back-up plan

Boss[2:50 PM]:and in this case, your back-up plan is unfortunately only me

Boss[2:50 PM]:as there is Optus and Unwired happening at the same time

Boss[2:51 PM]:if you want to go by the book that you only need to work 8 hrs a day, then I can’t say anything

Diva 40 [2:51 PM]:i mean if say is hard to tell ppl when we are gg for day off

Boss[2:53 PM]:i think in the real world, it is hard to find a job based on 9 to 5 right?

Diva 40 [3:05 PM]:u are rite there is no 9-5 job, i understand the give n take. Time off is not a entitlement, but of course i dun have to work over weekend then but is responsibility no choice but this leave application, i have spoken to you before i applied

Boss[3:08 PM]:1.  if you look at your job JD, I believe it says ‘time management skills required.  Will be required to work longer hours and weekends if the need arises’

Boss[3:08 PM]:although as much as possible, we have pushed back whenever possible

Diva 40 [3:09 PM]:yup understand. that’s y i say if u dun approve i will just cancel it

Boss[3:09 PM]:if you look at the whole of year 2007, the number of weekends you have to work is countable, right?  Its not a weekly event?

Boss[3:09 PM]:my dear, I didn’t say I don’t approve it

Boss[3:10 PM]:my principle is that I always put my staff interest first

Boss[3:11 PM]:as far as your annual leave is concerned, 26-31st, I have already approved it in the system

Boss[3:11 PM]:and you have given me heads up before so I am fully aware of that

Boss[3:12 PM]:its just the period 18th (which I dun think its an issue), 21st, 24th (which I also dun think its an issue cause most prob it will be unofficial 3pm day off)

Diva 40 [3:12 PM]:is not alot but it just compensating my weekends. But u are saying noe it’s difficult to tell ppl when i go for Day off. I’m sorry i dun buy that

Boss[3:13 PM]:I have no issue compensating you guys for the weekend.  In fact, I have told you and others before, if you have to work over the weekend, it will be a one-to-one time off

Boss[3:15 PM]:lets take a scenario (scenario only), if XXX has to be submitted on the 24th and you are the one who have been working on it.  And my hands are full with other things and cant back you up, then can I tell people that we cannot deliver because I have to give time off to you because of the weekend work?

Boss[3:16 PM]:so, all I am saying is that I hear your wishes to go off on those days and I will try my best to let you go off on those days but in the event that I really have no choice, then I have no choice right?
